Membership Types
At Woden Thunder Athletics we offer four different membership options which are set out below:
Tiny Tots – this program is for anyone with a child aged 3 or 4 (born in 2020 or 2021). The Tiny Tots group runs for 30-45 minutes on Wednesday night starting at 5.30pm. For Tiny Tots register here.
Little Athletics – this program is for children aged 5 to 12. The focus of Little Athletics is on participation and learning the fundamental movements of running, jumping, throwing, walking and rolling. There is an event for everyone, and athletes have the chance to try them all out. Everyone is welcome to join, no matter their ability. Athletes stay with their age group for the course of the program and are supervised by their age-group manager who keeps the group together and takes athletes around the field to their events for the day. For Little Athletics register here.
Senior Athletics – this is for athletes aged 13 or over including Masters age athletes. Woden Thunder athletes have the option of competing at our regular Club meets on Saturday mornings and/or competing in the weekly Capital Athletics meets on Saturday afternoons. Your registration with Woden Thunder Athletics automatically gives you access to these competititions. For Senior Athletics register here.
Note: When registering through the registration portal as an athlete that is not Under 17 or younger you will need to choose the ‘Registration Product’ that is Adult 17+ (U20, Opens & Masters) 365 days.
When selecting volunteer duties you can choose Over 17 Athlete or Seniors Only Duty.
Community Members – This membership category is for those over the age of 17 who would like to be involved in the club’s athletic activities but prefer not to compete in the more serious events offered by Capital Athletics. This is perfect for those who want to stay active, participate in club activities, and enjoy the social aspects of athletics without the pressure of high-level competition. For Community Membership register here.
Half Year Membership – We are offering a discount for those still keen to partake in the latter half of the season. See below in ‘Club Fees’ for how to get a full half year discount.
The On Track Program for 5 and 6 year olds
“On Track” is an athletic skills development program that aims to provide children in the Under 6 to Under 7 age group with the opportunity to learn the basic gross motor skills and movements in a fun environment.
The program concentrates on teaching our younger athletes the fundamental motor skills of running, jumping, hopping and throwing in a non-competitive environment, whilst also focusing on active participation, learning and improving, having fun and experiencing excitement. The activities in the program are designed to be progressive over time and will be different each week. By fostering friendships, decreasing the competition mindset and increasing prospects for learning, the program is able to deliver all the above essential aspects.
At Woden Thunder, for the Under 6s, we will have two On Track activities and two running events until the Xmas break and then we will move to one On Track activity, two runs and one formal field event.
For the Under 7s we will have one On Track activity, two running events and one field event until the Xmas break and then we will move to, two runs and two formal field events.
